Corporate Transparency Act Event

Corporate Transparency Act Event

Date & Time: May 7, 2024, 9:30 am - 11:30 am PDT

Language: English

Event Provider: Wilsonville Area Chamber of Commerce

Location: In-Person

Address: Al Kader Shrine Center: 25100 SW Parkway Ave, Wilsonville, OR 97070

Duration: 120 minutes

Cost: Free

REGISTRATION: Click here to register for this class.

ABOUT THE EVENT: The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), which came into effect on January 1, 2024, marks a significant milestone in the regulation of U.S. businesses. Spearheaded to enhance transparency and combat financial crimes, the CTA introduces stringent reporting obligations for certain businesses, designated as "reporting companies." These entities are now required to disclose detailed information about their beneficial owners to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), a move aimed at peeling back the layers of anonymity that have historically cloaked the ownership structures of many corporations and LLCs. As this legislation unfolds, it’s crucial for businesses to understand their status in relation to the CTA and the specifics of compliance to ensure they operate within the bounds of the law.

In an effort to demystify the complexities of the CTA for the business community, Buckley Law shareholders and attorneys Aaron J. Bell and Martin Medeiros are leading a comprehensive seminar. Their presentation promises to dissect the nuances of the CTA, offering clarity on who qualifies as a "Reporting Company" and the criteria for exemption. Further, it will delve into defining a Beneficial Owner (BO) and Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI), the process and deadlines for submitting a BOI report, and the designation and significance of a Company Applicant (CA). Additionally, the role and operation of FinCEN, including the introduction of a FinCEN Identifier and the implications for businesses in terms of compliance, reporting deadlines, and the handling of changes or inaccuracies in previously filed BOI reports, will be thoroughly explored.

Understanding the repercussions of non-compliance is critical, as the CTA stipulates stringent penalties for reporting failures. The seminar will address the consequences of not filing a BOI report, corrective measures for inaccuracies, and who will have access to the disclosed BOI, shedding light on privacy concerns. It will also touch upon the current legal landscape surrounding the CTA, including ongoing and potential challenges to its implementation. This seminar is an invaluable opportunity for business leaders and legal professionals alike to gain insights into navigating the complexities of the CTA, ensuring their organizations adhere to these new transparency standards while continuing to thrive in a dynamically evolving regulatory environment.

This new law, the Corporate Transparency Act, requires businesses like yours to submit a report (called a Beneficial Ownership Information Report, or BOI Report) to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). If you registered your business this year, you only have 90 days from your business registration to submit this report. Even if you have never had to submit any form of report for your business, you are still required do so now. There are no exemptions for small businesses, new businesses, or businesses with little to no revenue. Even if you consider your business inactive, you are still required to comply.

To assist you in meeting this requirement, QEDC has developed a comprehensive webinar designed to guide you through the registration process step by step. This resource is invaluable for both new and existing businesses, and it is time-sensitive. We encourage all business owners to take advantage of this opportunity to ensure compliance and avoid any potential penalties.

About the Speaker:

Digna Cueto is a business professional with over 20 years of experience in the corporate retail sector. As an entrepreneur, she leads a successful business offering comprehensive services such as tax preparation, accounting, and payroll. Additionally, she is a distinguished instructor at a renowned tax preparation school, where she shares her knowledge and experience with future professionals in the field.

Business Mastery: No Cost Leads, Conversions and Sales

Business Mastery: No Cost Leads, Conversions and Sales

Date & Time: April 18, 2024, 9:00 am - 11:00 am PDT

Language: English

Event Provider: SCORE Portland

Duration: 120 minutes

Location: Online [Live virtual event]

Cost: Free

REGISTRATION: Click here to register for this class.

About this Event: We'll start by talking about leads (or prospects). Leads are the fuel for any business from restaurants to an attorney's office. This is the first point in the sales process that eventually results in a sale. A business with an effective lead-generation process will dramatically increase its probability of success. And, if you feel like you have lead generation down, don't forget there are always more effective ways to get a higher quality and quantity of leads!

Then we'll look at conversion and transactional strategies. All customers go through a process of determining when and from whom to buy. This is their decision-making process - they gather information and make choices during this phase. Here, we think about ways you can connect with your future customers/clients in a way that builds trust and establishes a relationship so that when they are ready to buy, they buy from you.

Amanda Bedell helps business owners write themselves bigger paychecks and take vacations without cash flow anxiety and endless phone calls from staff. With her proprietary software and systemized approach, Amanda’s clients see results of $150k + in 90-120 days.

Amanda spent over 18 years in the marketing and public relations fields working with multi-million dollar organizations and in the entertainment industry. In between, she built a bakery business from a farmers market booth to a brick-and-mortar and manufacturing facility employing 15 people. Her intimate knowledge from scaling a business merged with her marketing and communication experience creates a holistic approach to building a business. Her work centers around employee relations, efficiency systems, and marketing strategy.

Lastly, the quickest way to profitability is to sell more stuff to the same people. You've heard it before... it's easier to keep customers than to find new ones. I'll share some nontraditional ways to keep customers engaged with you or reactivate past buyers.

This presentation is not about advertising on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, or Google. The strategies presented will cost you nothing to implement and you'll be able to start using them in your business immediately.
